RLT™ (Recycled Light Technology) versus Existing Technology
RLT™ is our patented Recycling Light Technology. This compact, low-cost, passive component technology increases by 1.5 to 3 times the usable light output of a conventional LEDs by collecting high angle-led generated stray light, that would be wasted in conventional illumination systems, and redirecting it into a compact, useful, and brighter collimated beam. The usable LED light output is significantly boosted by the RLT™ reflector with no additional LED input power required and no decrease in LED lifetime.

RLT™ optical platform can be used with a wide variety of LEDs ranging from miniature sizes all the way to 100+ Watt LEDs. This brightness improvement works well for multicolored and solid color chips, where a narrow beam angle is required.
The key to the success of MeadowStar’s capabilities is our Recycling Light Technology (RLT™). Key to our approach is a breakthrough technology unique to MeadowStar that not only allows us to better focus and project visible electromagnetic sources, i.e. “light”, but with a high degree of collimated brightness and intensity, even in daylight. The RLT™ is an optic that recycles a portion of the light rays generated by a LED that are normally not directed forward (known as light spillover or “waste” light). With RLT™ this “captured” light is directed back towards the phosphor (or “recycled”) where it causes the LED to further fluoresce, but without the need for additional power. For example RLT™, using an RLT™ Reflective Collar, we can increase a LED’s projected luminance by 1.5 times to 3 times over what is conventionally achievable.
